What do you need to do?
The Act mandates that certain premises and events must take proactive steps to prepare for potential terrorist attacks and ensure the safety of individuals in the event of an attack.
Standard Duty
For smaller premises with 200-799 individuals
Simple, low-cost activities to enhance safety and preparedness.
These measures aim to reduce harm and save lives in the event of an attack.
Key activities include locking doors, closing shutters, and identifying safe routes for cover.
Enhanced Duty
For larger premises and public events with 800 or more individuals.
In addition to the standard duty obligations, enhanced duty premises are required to:
Implement additional safety protocols to reduce vulnerability to terrorism and physical harm.
Notify the Security Industry Authority (SIA) that you are responsible for the premises.
Example protocols include bag search policies, CCTV monitoring, and vehicle checks.
Our Martyn’s Law courses will provide you with the appropriate knowledge for each duty.
